Re: Hancock field surplus school ac

Would like to find an original copy of that photo to determine the B-25's serial number. For some reason, it seems to have eluded most researchers.
Thanks for the post.

Re: Query on Bendix or Sperry Nose Turret on late f early G?

SuzyQ194, B-17G chin turret installations were as follows: Bendix, GFE (T.O. 11-45AA-3) (no model given) installed in serials 42-31032 thru 43-39480 Bendix Type A-16A installed in serials 43-39841 and subsequent I think we'll need to find an illustrated parts manual for the YB-40 to answer your ques...

Re: PB4Y-2 N6637

Buno 66317 is a PB4Y-2 that was surplused, but never registered. I was guessing that someone added an N in front of the Bureau number for a ferry permit. The fact that it shows up in an episode of 12 O'Clock High is very intriguing. Would really like to know what happened to this aircraft. My guess ...

Re: PB4Y-2

Yes, they did. At one time or another it was at the Movieland aircraft exhibit in Buena Park near Knotts Berry Farm. It wore the nose art "Lady Be Good" at the time. Dik Shepherd who was a active with Ed Maloney and was on the B-26 Marauder recoveries with Tallichet in the early 1970s says he has th...

Another Technical School B-17 Hunt

I was looking through the appendices of Dan Hagedorn's B-18 and B-23 book and noticed this entry: "...Ed Wlodyka was sent as a USAF recruit to J&J Air Tech, a private school located in Sarasota, Florida, in 1951, where he was to be trained as and Airframe & Engine (A&E) Aircraft Mechanic, he was sur...
