Re: B-17G Aluminum Overcast Update

???? How does this differ from the AD grounding all the flyable B-17's until the wing attachment points were visually inspected and modified to prevent this type of cracking. Did not the EAA ship have this AD complied with and if so, is this a new problem for the airworthy aircraft. The AD does not...

Re: Rebuild of B-17G 44-85734 "Liberty Belle"

I'm working on an (overdue) article for the (much overdue) next issue of The Liberty Foundation newsletter regarding the current status and restoration plans for Liberty Belle. Once I finish the article, I will make sure a copy or link is posted here.

Re: Rebuild of B-17G 44-85734 "Liberty Belle"

Hi Chuck, does that mean that the entire blog is gone now, or do they have things severely honked up and just haven't managed to get it fixed yet? Dead. Gone. Never meant to be on the web. " 'E's passed on! This BLOG is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a s...

Long story short, it was internal status, never meant to go out to the web.

Re: B-17G 44-83859/CP-767 accident photo

Definitely looks like that. More of Liberty Belle is intact because 1) the fire appeared in the trailing edge of the wing, 2) the wind directed the flames aft, and 3) as the fire progressed, the fuselage behind the rear spar burned and the wing tilted forward, burying the props in the ground. In thi...

Re: B-17H?

This is likely a silly questions. I'm curious if there were ever plans to have an H model Fortress. I've noticed that in many (but not all) assembly drawings, the parts list includes a column labeled "H" following E F G. It has the same flag as G, falling into the G series. So... Why is it there? W...

Re: Scratch Build of B-17G 43-38083 "Happy Valley Express"

Building a one-off B-17 is not very cost effective and would take considerably longer to build then a production line of aircraft. It's important to remember that building a one-off will cost at a minimum (Really scraping the bottom of the barrel, many in-house parts, and no money into hangar space...

Re: Scratch Build B-17G, Fort Collins, CO

Maybe this isn't the best place to ask, but I'm hoping that one of you may have a few BAC extrusion sheets. Bill has given me scans of several, but he's unavailable for the next week and a half. I'm looking for the following: BAC-1507 BAC-1520 BAC-1614 BAC-1490 BAC-1507 (TT extrusion) takes priorit...

Re: Scratch Build B-17G, Fort Collins, CO

Thanks Scott. I did a search but didn't find what I needed. I may just have to wait until Bill gets back, which won't be too bad. Really just hoping to get a headstart. I am also in need of a few parts/assembly drawings. I'm not sure if Bill will have them, as they seem to be B-17G exclusive. They ...

You would have to ask the Liberty Foundation that question. I don't speak for them on financial or operational issues. All of my restoration work is for Brooks Aviation.
