Re: Labrador B-17G 44-83790 restoration
While bulkheads 4 & 5 are critical, bulkhead 3 and the flight deck are difficult to construct. We pretty much got the assembly sequence right, and we still went through a lot of metal making custom bucking bars, along with using just about every offset rivet set in Tom's collection. Lots of small pa...

Re: Labrador B-17G 44-83790 restoration
Bulkhead 3 is a combination of the Labrador B-17 and new build parts.
I don't know of an online diagram, but I'll look for one in the blueprints. I've even seen logbooks that refer to them incorrectly.

Everything is from either the Labrador B-17 or blueprints. Nothing from Liberty Belle has been used.Dave wrote:Chuck,
How much of Liberty Belle are you using in this, or is everything from 790 so far?
Great work

When we reached a point where we had to commit to a F or G nose, the boss said to make it a G.KnockoutDropper wrote:
On a side note - I always thought this was going to be rebuilt as a B-17F? Not the case, obviously. No worries...you can never have too many B-17Gs around! Looking great!

One more shot of the nose, window frames are in place, just waiting on the cheek windows to rivet it together.

Restoration of Labrador B-17G 44-83790
I'm waaay overdue on posting pictures of the Labrador (Dyke Lake) B-17. We've been working from bulkhead3 back towards the Bomb Bay, and forward to the nose. Here's a taste of the current state of the restoration: http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn147/cgiese0001/Labrador%20B-17/DSC01885.jpg http:...

Re: mock (???) Memphis Belle
I think we had two or three copies of the previous edition left. Just pick the latest one out of the rack - it will be hiding behind edition 3. Cash, check or credit cards - yes. Not sure about paypal - best to ask Scott. As of now, I'm not on the schedule for at least the next two months so I won't...

Re: moch (???) Memphis Belle
Oh yeah, we're selling it. There are a couple of people behind the table who have made an art out of turning questions about the history of the B-17 and how many are flying into sales of the book. It also becomes a good way to get pilot's autographs  Seriously - most of the more 'interesting' ...

Re: moch (???) Memphis Belle
Yeah, I always thought it was a silly argument, until last weekend. It seemed that about 1/3 of the people who knew that it was not the original Memphis Belle also KNEW that the original was at the Smithsonian being restored. The majority thought that the original was still on Mud Island. It wasn't ...

mock (???) Memphis Belle
Hey Scott, what's up with calling it the mock Memphis Belle in the B-17 News? I'm not seeing references to, say, the mock nine-o-nine . Disclaimer: I've spent the last 5 weeks working on the movie Memphis Belle , getting it ready for tour for the Liberty Foundation. Judging by the way our first tour...

Re: Liberty Belle / After Pictures
EAA's Aluminum Overcast flew in to my town for a couple of days this week and I stopped by. I heard a mechanic say that there was a persistent fuel leak they were working on and they thought it had been fixed... :( Hmmm.... hadn't heard that one before. Oh well, I guess if the EAA mechanic said it,...
