I recently talked to one of the individuals that acquired the Colorado bar B-17 hulk, as they are looking to rebuild it to a (supposedly) flying aircraft. Again, I ask the question - wouldn't it be easier, and cheaper, to use this airframe as a basis for creating a B-17D? The aft fuselage needs to b...

To me, it looks like the blue is some sort of primer and the green is the top coat. The green matches the interior color in almost all military B-17s that I've seen, including the pieces from a Y1B-17 that I have.

Probably not. "Blister" guns on the B-25 are what the four on the outside (two on each side of the forward fuslage, aimed forward) were called.

The ammo boxes would be one behind the other (side-by-side), fore-to-aft, instead of side-by-side, port-to-starboard. Thus, R.H. REAR = Right side Rear

You might try Aero Trader at Chino Airport in California, or Jay Wisler in Florida at www.warbird-parts.com.

Also, there's http://www.bmgparts.com/aircraft.html, which seems to be the best in pricing.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

On a project such as this, more things are needed than just money and material. The ability to take advantage of situations that arise can often cost a few (sorely) needed dollars in the beginning, but save untold amounts of money later on. One of those situations is currently taking place on eBay. ...

Another one that would be nice to see, and maybe not all that hard to do (think Beech 18 :) ), would be a Grumman F5F.

I've also always liked the Curtiss F11C and the Boeing P-12/F4B-4.

In fact, if anybody's interested, this is currently on eBay.

There is a privately owned, full scale, P6E replica. It even has the right engine for the type, I believe it's the "Conqueror".

Wrong "Condor". You're thinking of an FW200. We're talking Curtiss-Wright. Here's a quote I got from the Internet . . . "Of the 45 Condor IIs, 14 Model 19s, and B- Bombers built by the Curtiss-Wright Corporation, only NC12363, serial number 23, has survived. It is currently located in Moab, Utah, to...

Yeah, seriously, how much are you looking at (cost wise) for a "stinger" or a "Cheyanne" gun position? And, are they just the basic units or have you been able to duplicate the gun mounts and everything else?

Also, if we supply our own clecos do we get a discount?

I don't think I'm dreaming, but I believe that I read, someplace, that someone has a "CONDOR" that is being restored. I think I read about it, and saw pictures of it, 2 or 3 years ago, and it's not a museum.

I might have read about in AIR CLASSICS magazine.

A Do 335 would be great to see doing a high speed, low level pass at any air show. A monster aircraft like that would never be forgotten after being seen in flight.
