History of Tallman FG-1D N3440G
I'm adding individual pages on the four Corsairs affiliated with Paul Mantz or Frank Tallman (N63382, N3440G, N9153Z and N9154Z) to my tallmantz.com pages...with the first one just added on N3440G. https://www.aerovintage.com/tallmantz-aviation/tallman-fg-1d-n3440g/ It was purchased by Tallman at Li...

Re: "The Kamchatka Incident" (TV 1964)
I just updated my Tallmantz Vampire page. https://www.aerovintage.com/tallmantz-aviation/tallmantz-projects/ Thanks to the above information from JD Davis, I was able to add some screenshots of the Vampire and an unidentified (as yet) DC-7 in air-to-air filming near the Channel Islands off of southe...

I'd say that's a good guess...footage from Lady Takes a Flyer.

1950s-1960s Aircraft Collection at Norton AFB
As part of my looking at the International Flight and Space Museum (IFSM) material at Tallmantz Aviation, I put together a page on the little-known aircraft collection gathered at Norton AFB in the late 1950s through the early 1960s. There were some rare aircraft held in the collection. When it was ...

Steve, as always an interesting and thought-provoking post. I would have said Operation Torch too...I was not aware of what Roger documented and have not seen any photos.

B-17G 44-83316 and Twelve O'Clock High, etc.
I just added a post at aerovintage about another somewhat obscure B-17G...this being 44-83316 and one that had a long and torturous history. However, parts of it are still around and have gone into several B-17 restorations. It was the second B-17 (fuselage only) used during the filming of the secon...

Re: "The Kamchatka Incident" (TV 1964)
JD...thanks for posting these. I've been looking to find that episode for a long time and it finally surfaced on YouTube. I'll add these screenshots to the Tallmantz Vampire page at some point. Interesting to see the scheme it wore in the episode. I'm curious where the DC-7 came from also. It appear...

Re: Mystery time: B-17 at Flemming Field 1954
I believe this to be B-17F 42-6073 that had been with Hancock College at Santa Maria, CA, prior to 1954. Rebuilt by Jack Lysdale to become N7942A and then later CP-686. Destroyed November 4, 1968, at Trinidad, Bolivia. https://www.aerovintage.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/B-17F-42-6073.gif https://...

The Bozeman Bomber: B-17F 42-3470
I just posted a story about B-17F 42-3470 that spent the late 1940s on the campus of Montana State College at Bozeman, then went on to fly as N66574, OB-RAH-346, CP-633 (sorta), AN-AMI (sorta), N9815F (sorta) and ended up as HK-580 in Colombia. It most likely crashed in 1962 but such details remain ...

Re: One for the 17 Detectives
Hmmm...I think Dave identified the Pipestone B-17 and nobody noticed?
42-102722 was at Altus after November 1945. It then went to Pipestone if the D U1 identity is correct.

Another Obscure Civil B-17: N5723N
I just added a post about B-17F 42-30921 that obscurely was on the U.S. civil register in 1950 as N5723N before going to Bolivia as CB-71. It also had an interesting AAF service in development work of radio-control drones/targets/bombs between 1943 and 1946. https://www.aerovintage.com/2023/09/23/an...

Frank Tallman FM-2 N90523
I just added an in-depth look at the FM-2, BuNo 74056, that Frank Tallman owned from 1957 to 1960. Tallman did not use it for any film projects, but it was part of his collection at Flabob before he merged with Paul Mantz at Orange County in late 1961. Interesting stuff...the FM-2 that became the on...

No, I believe it is long gone. Tom Reilly is now working out of Douglas, Georgia.
There is a Bomber Camp every summer at Stockton, CA.
