Re: B-17C Update

40-2047 is on government land and declared government property and probably on the national register of historic places. The United States government owns it if one sues them in court one looses look at the b 29 in Lake Mead on the registry of historic places on national park service land. Someone ...

Re: Another Obscure Civil B-17: N5723N

Wish we could find somebody knowledgeable about Bolivia aviation - this country has had one of the largest B-17 fleets during the 1950 ~ 1960 with a lot of them crashing in obscure parts of jungles and valleys with many never recovered.... Would be an interesting expidition to recover some of these ...

Re: Next B-17 Restoration Rebuild to Fly?
I've seen a lot of mentions of these and I could've sworn I saw some images of a general area that it's been narrowed down to.. Is there any further information to be gathered on these planes? I would love to prove their existence.
I photos I seen was of a very deep clay pit and a ...

Re: 41-9234: A Very Unusual B-17E

Edit: Forgot to add, but in theory if you were crazy enough to take on restoring her.. Would it be even remotely possible to purchase or acquire the dismantled 44-83718 for parts? It seems a bit crazy, but the idea of restoring 41-9234 itself is a bit crazy. With todays technology advances, it woul...

Re: Modified B-17 Waist Positions

Interesting photo showing a unique B-17 interior. The only one I know of that was fitted out this way was 41-9043 "Peggy-D" . Roger Freeman described the modifications as heavy and unwieldy and "soon deleted". Heavy, unwieldy is an understatment. Presuming this photo is looking forward (the blast d...

Re: B-17G 'Our Parting Shot at Tokyo'

That type of Radar is generally assaciated with B-17H's (SB-17G's).

Strange that the mod was done at Cheyenne as the B-17H program was generally handled by Rome Depot
