Merry Christmas-Urbana B-17, back history notes-sorta

Merry Christmas! I thought I would share a few Pictures I have. The first are just a few images from a Wright Aeronautical Binder that have direct bearing on the Urbana B-17; or so I have been told. It is interesting to me that the engine being tested was originally planned for the B-52. The whole b...

Small world

Hang the expense; I was thinking the same thing about the three B-29s that Disney used to do that movie: "Last Flight of Noah's Ark". My First cousin's husband was the Disney Exec in charge of Overseas productions. If I had just been a bit older. As it was I was having trouble finding room for an ex...

I spent a lot of my childhood with my Grandfather in Nevada. There a "Desert Rat" is a kinda curmudgenly character that manages to survive no matter what is thrown at it. And; one that always comes back.

Sounds a lot like the Fort.

It does not come back as a serial of one of the French IGN planes. Nor does it appear in any list I have seen. Nor, do I think, that it is a good seriel for a B-17. Replace the first digit with a "3" and it would be good for a B-17G-B0

I would love to see a pic of this plane

Scott, Thank you for taking the time out to reply to my post. The answer was well thought out and informative. (grin) I wish you had used the same reasoning in the book! I think it was just the use of the word "old" that hit me. Does make you wonder though, why she went over to England in the first ...

"The final Cut" and N17W

As a long time B-17 Fanatic it was my extreme pleasure to purchase the "The Final Cut". I fully enjoyed it. However; I question a statement made in the section that dealt with the history of N17W. "that an old B-17F would be deployed to combat in Europe is difficult to envision". At the time of the ...
