Re: Kermit Weeks B-17 Suzy Q
From Weeks videos, he often talks about moving from a flying museum into more of a interactive video museum - with all of his projects (some little more then boxes of parts) it will be interesting to see what gets accomplished (and what gets eventually sold)

Re: What's the story with 41-9137?
Interesting point, but it is a Royal Air Force camouflage scheme and the wider white panel is consistent with that on 41-9141 when photographed in April of 1942 (and 41-2622, which did go to the RAF). http://img-cdn.filefactory.com/embed/xl/7jywiwg6msxu.jpg Look at the order of the colors on the RA...

Steve
Mark me silly, but my impressions is this is French markings for propoganda not RAF. By July 42, the RAF fin flash would have a very narrow white in the middle.

Re: New Build B-17
Interesting thread. While there is some new-build projects going on, and the NMUSAF is completely uninterested in releasing any airframes...what about current examples currently in storage? I believe a B-17 is currently in storage in Paris, also Pink Lady is currently grounded, isnt there also an e...

Several Maxwell CD's might have the what you are seeking (or you could end-up with 4 CD's worth of VD records) 1) A4081 (NCLUDES S-2 (INTELLIGENCE) DIARIES AND JOURNALS FOR 40 BOMBARDMENT SQUADRON (MEDIUM), 4 ANTISUBMARINE SQUADRON (HEAVY) AND 25 ANTISUBMARINE WING) http://airforcehistoryindex.org/d...

Re: Attn shoppers: B-17F trainer 42-6089 in the L.A. River
I wonder what they considered to be slight injuries Its a sliding scale.... Until the end of 1944 the scale was simple: Damage=1 no damage to aircraft (ie somebody walked into a propeller, caught in the turret machinery, foot run over by tire etc). Damage=2 Slight damage to aircraft (dented wings, ...

Re: B-17C / Fortress GR I AN530
When wrapping up my Coastal Command Fortress book I learned that a former 206 Sqn navigator by the name of Joe Griffith lived just down the road. I made a couple of visits and Joe proved to be a goldmine of additional information on Fortress operations from RAF Benbecula. Among the details he obvio...

Re: B-17E 41-2410; what's this scheme?
So, the aircraft on the right is an AAF B-24 and not a USN PB4Y-1? If so, that answers the question. Thanks for posting. Nope she is an RCAF Liberator GR I - one of the first five sent to Canada. I do not believe any USAAF B-24 has the Radar in the nose - the USAAF preferred the ball turret position.

Re: The Blue Goose Revisited
Steve - going to suggest another possibility.
How about Aztec Blue for this color scheme ?
There was another B-17 41-24457 called Aztec Curse, could this also have been a blue ship ?

Re: The Blue Goose Revisited
For the record, here's the Don Greer sideview from Ernie McDowell's FLYING FORTRESS The Boeing B-17 (Squadron/Signal, 1987). http://img-cdn.filefactory.com/embed/xl/ur78tt4gx36.jpg A lot of questions and suppositions all weith nothing to back-up what is being suggested....
