PICTURES OF B-17s

Post by DIK SHEPHERD »

Okay everyone -

I recently acquired the aircraft data plate, on eBay, of a B-17 with the serial number 42-37750.

This aircraft was with the 366th Bomb Squadron of the 305th Bomb Group, for about a month, when it was shot down by fighters on the 14 Oct 43 mission to Schweinfurt, Germany. The data plate turned up in a farmer's field in 1949 and has been floating around ever since.

My research says that it had the name of "MARY T" and the call letters of KY-M, and I have the names of the crew, but I haven't been unable to find any pictures of it.

So, if anyone happens to find a photo in a book or magazine, please let me know. And, if someone has a vast collection of B-17 pictures and happens to have a shot of the plane, please let me know what it would take for me to acquire a duplicate print. Maybe it will show up in a production shot or something, or maybe in the background of another plane's picture. Who knows?

Thanks guys.
