North American and the P-51

Post by texguard »

Has anyone ever heard of N/A breaking up airframes after WW2 and then burying them some where around Dallas Texas? I heard this story from a N/A employee in the early 1980s that i worked with. He would not say where they took them . I have always wondered if this was true.

I'll add that to the Burma Spitfires, the Me262's in a cave and other ficticious stories....

However, in the 1970's Russian P-39's and Bf 109's were considered a myth

I wouldn't think after breaking them up NA would truck what was left off somewhere for burial when they could just send it off by rail for processing. Also that part of Dallas used to have a fair number of scrapyards.
