B-17G 42-97897 - accident photos?

Post by Chris Brame »

I was looking up accidents occurring with B-17s from Buckingham Field in Florida and came up with only one G-model: 42-97897 had a landing accident in Texas on May 25, 1945. AAIR lists it with the 2118th Base Unit at Buckingham, but Osborne has it at Gulfport, MS. Are there any accident photos that would show the markings? Looking to see if it carried an FM### code.

Eleven other B-17s, all F-models, from Buckingham are listed in AAIR's accident database along with two YB-40s - it was a gunnery training base.
