Another Obscure Civil B-17: N5723N

Post by aerovin2 »

I just added a post about B-17F 42-30921 that obscurely was on the U.S. civil register in 1950 as N5723N before going to Bolivia as CB-71. It also had an interesting AAF service in development work of radio-control drones/targets/bombs between 1943 and 1946.

Wish we could find somebody knowledgeable about Bolivia aviation - this country has had one of the largest B-17 fleets during the 1950 ~ 1960 with a lot of them crashing in obscure parts of jungles and valleys with many never recovered....

Would be an interesting expidition to recover some of these ships (some with combat histories).

But again, deep pockets would be needed
