Boeing B-17G Special Use Codes

Post by Phixer09 »

The USAAF Monthly Inventory Reports have a column for special use codes, typically ‘WW’ for ‘war weary’.
There are other codes to denote equipment fit and I am trying to rationalise the following codes for the B-17G:

‘SH’ - believed to denote equipped with H2X radar system. [eg; 42-97986]
‘SO’ - believed to denote equipped with H2S radar system. [eg; 43-38262]
‘GH’ - believed to denote equipped with GEE.
‘HO’ - equipped with GEE? [eg; 44-8007]
‘SO GH’ - believed to denote equipped with H2S and GEE [eg; 42-97824]
‘SH GH’ - believed to denote equipped with H2X and GEE [eg; 44-8211]
‘SO SH’ - surely not equipped with H2S and H2X? Image [eg; 44-8007]

Can anyone confirm or amend the above?
