Found Parts : A-5 Automatic Pilot, Radar, etc

A marketplace of B-17 parts...where to find them, where to sell them, where to trade them, where to build them.

Found Parts : A-5 Automatic Pilot, Radar, etc

Post by mram10us »

Hey guys. My wife deals in antiques and found a couple items I thought might interest you. The first is an A-5 Sperry Automatic Pilot, Spec # 27359. I have done some research, but not sure what the value might be. I enjoy flying, but do not have a b-17 or b-25 to put it in :) She also came across, what looks like, a radar dish Part #102973. Any help identifying these items would be great. We would love to keep them, but it would make more sense to sell them. Thank you.

The B-17 used the Sperry C-1 Autopilot.

Can you post a picture of the radar dish? Would be interested to see what that is all about.
"Chuckie" was, before being sold, being restored with an H2S "Mickey" dome in the ball
turret position.

I thought the B-17 and B-24 used the A-5 around 40-42ish??? I called MIT to inquire about the AP, since they had a hand in building it.

No pics of the A-5 automatic pilot yet.

Ideas on what these are and maybe a value. I obviously have no need for them. Thanks.
