This would be laser cut plywood,
with other detail pieces being misc.
wood and maybe some plastic,
depending on if we do the O2 bottles.
It is 1/8 scale!
We were thinking we could offer it as a
pre-built, as well as a kit. Problem
with the kit is that we'd need to make
up instructions and assembly aids.
This being a means to generate some
$$$ for The Rat, I wonder what you think
would be reasonable. We have figures in
our mind, but we have not passed them
by anyone as a sanity check yet.
As far as yours... If you offered it in kit form I would suggest pricing it based on what other large scale kits sell for. (I am thinking R/C). But that all depends on what the kit would include and all the little details like instructions etc...
I think the concept, similar to the original, would be great for experienced modelers to ad their own detail to.
I wonder how many 1/8 scale B-17's you have to sell before you can finish a real one...
I just read a review of that MPM kit...sounds like it leaves a lot to be
desired for $350.
Obviously, ours is meant to look just like the model on
Ed Well's desk. I think that is the picture I most remember
as a kid, paging through Ed Jablonski's book night after
night. That's the allure that we hope will get some B-17
lovers to want to buy it, and support a real B-17
in the process.
I thank you for your post. Sounds like we're both on the
same page as far as pricing.
