Stan ReaverLong time Paul Mantz chief pilot. Stan flew one of Mantz's two P-51C racers in the 1949 Bendix Race (and finished in second place). He also made a name for himself in 1953 while racing to bring film footage of Queen Elizabeths' coronation to U.S. viewers, again flying a Mantz Mustang. Reaver also did much of the California flying for the filming of Spirit of St. Louis in 1956. Reaver did a lot of the early development flying of Mantz's TBM prototype air tanker in the mid-1950s. |
