Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

Hi all

an quick update on some items we have recovered, traded or purchased. More to come over the next few months with several wreck sites to be investigated here in Australia.

these include D, E and F model B-17's. Will provide more as each site survey is completed.

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

Hi All the B-17 wing attach bracket I have - as per above pic - is now for sale. As I understand, it is for an early D or E type. I'm focussing on the F series. So if there is an interested party drop me a line and I can send more pics and details. Would love to see it go into a resto project. Peter

Re: Sperry Turret for Sale

I've tried to contact Taigh without success.

would love to get a hold of that item but perhaps he wants it to stay in the US, which is fair enough too.

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

I appreciate the advice and offer but figure unless I can achieve a given level of parts (that is an amount of parts that justify to me further consideration and investment) then I will focus on obtaining what I can in smaller managable sections. I have progressed the project to the point of now bei...

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

It apparently comes from an early Convair T-29A being the Military version of the commercial 240 series liner.

The T-29A was used to trainer navigators and I have been supplied with a number of pics. Its also the same as the Navigators seat in a B-24.

Thanks

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

Howdy thought I would update the site with my new arrival of parts. 70% B-17 with T6 and a few B-24 stuff mixed in for good luck. I've been extremely lucky dealing with a great fella who lives along way from me and I had no way of inspecting the parts, having said that I was provided with all the pa...

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

No Jigs yet, still focussing on the hard to get stuff. Scored several tail wheels, retract motors and worm shafts for same, all NOS. Currently got people helping me with other items aka MLG (I have wheels, brakes etc) exhaust sets (I have only partial sets at the minute), looking for yokes and pedal...

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

STATIC! whats that? Nope my approach is go for a flyer and if you fall short then a static is what you end up with? - happy to listen to others views. Additionally I have also secured a large cache of B-17 parts easily filling a 20ft container and on the water as I type. This will add to our invento...

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia

Thanks very much for the assistance.
If that is correct, B/C/D is of use for an F model? as this is the focus of my attention so far. Although we did have some earlier types arrive in Australia,
I thought they all moved on and E's and F's filled the gap?

Tried to include the following images as well. Just a few items I have picked up along the way. Any help identifying either piece would be appreciated.

Re: B-17 Parts Wanted - Australia More Needed

Hi All - my second go at this so apologies for any doble ups. I've had 2 great responses from sellers and have now secured a significant holding of Fortress spares and can be a bit cheeky and say I am well on my way to establishing a sound platform from which to base a serious rebuild of the type. I...

Re: B-17F 41-24548 Tadji PNG

Great thread this, well for me it is. I've been researching recoverable 17's for the last few years while madly collecting what I can. If someone has one of those accounts you need to post pics I have a few I'd like to share and see if I can get a few things identified. back to tadji. I looked up th...

Re: B-17F 41-24548 Tadji PNG

I can add some detail to this B-17 story at Tadji. Its well recorded on a few sites and one speculates the name of the B-17 was "War Horse" but this has never been confirmed. The reason for this is that nothing remains of the fuselage and the tail section you refer to is not B-17 or, you have an old...
