Re: Tom Reilly Warbird Camp Still around?

Bomber camp is geared to bomber ops, dropping some dummy ordinance and playing with the guns and turrets.

Re: Modified B-17 Waist Positions

Be willing to bet that the armor plate forward of the receiver weighs in at just about three times what the piece at the trigger end weighs. That would end up being almost a wash on balance.

I suspect that the lawyers and insurance companies have it for now.

Re: Research Help needed

I’d start by chasing the photo unit listed in the report and from there, the film number that is referenced. Not sure who would have the film, maybe the Nat. Archives?

I did find a couple of videos of the drops carried out in Burma.

Re: Second pair of eyes

Any possibility that Denver was so stacked up at that time, that they had some aircraft sent elsewhere to have the work done?

Re: B-17C Interior shot

I’ve pretty well cracked the Bronze-Green one. I know someone that has a decent, non faded color chip page along with the full AN-3 specification. I need to get him to go have it run under a scanner to get a set of numbers. With that, I can compare to the FS 15xxx numbers that are supposed to be ver...

Re: B-17C Interior shot

One of the things I’ve found as I chase data on my Fairchild restoration, is that there were two major colors of zinc chromate, with quite a bit of variation between companies as well as batches of paint for each of the two colors. I’ve spent a lot of time chasing down “Bronze-Green” and it’s led in...

Re: One for the detectives

Burtonwood was the depot for the 8th, 9th, 12th and 15th Air Force from June of '42. Was also known as BAD 1 or Base Air Depot 1.

Looks like an E nose maybe, but with some kind of a mod behind the 1st side window?

Re: A long shot, but worth a try

From what I'm seeing, unless all the markings were repainted on the bottom photo of the 'Rose, they are two different ships. The top photo has the bomb marks aligned high enough, that the longeron rivet line splits them. On the bottom photo of the 'Rose, they are positioned below the rivet line. Als...

Re: can you read the serial number

Was easy to carry on from where you pointed. Took me a moment to figure out that I had to keep hitting the button to get thru the list of a/c that the unit flew.
