Another interesting photo
Came across this image, that I didn't intially recognize. But I went back and looked again, and there it was, the fuselage of a Coastal Command B17. Sadly I can't see any serial number. I'm assuming it was headed for the fire dump or something along those lines. IT would be interesting to know the b...

One for the detectives
Picked up a couple of images. One, "Bugs BunnyJR" was a 447th BG bird, lost March 15, 1945. The other "Lil Butch" I assume is a 'hack'. What I'm wondering is whether it's an early F or even one of the original E models as it has just the one bomb symbol on it. Figured the experts here would know :) ...

Re: Been a while since I posted a photo
Thank you sir
I figured you'd have a good idea of where to hunt anyway.

Been a while since I posted a photo
I imagine based on the lack of guns in the nose glass and the white cowlings that this is a stateside trainer, but figured someone might know more about "Q-Ball"

Very cool to know this Steve. Thanks for the heads up! Funny how little diamonds in the rough can appear at times and nothing but, luck, curiosity and perseverance can prove their worth history wise

Re: PTO cargo 17 images.
It was a 17F? Did they replace the original nose glass with the E style for a reason?
Thanks for the info too Steve

PTO cargo 17 images.
Saw these two on eBay and went after them. I know there is a well known image of this bird after a crash. Haven't had a chance to do any hunting for info, but am hoping Steve can share from his knowledge of these converted 17Es about this one. https://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s199/guppy35/guppy35...

Haven't had any new 17 images to post in a while. Broke that string this week when I picked up this one. On the back it says "The General's Plane" Burtonwood. Wondering if anyone has come across an ID for this bird or other images? Seems like the paint job is fairly unusual. https://i152.photobucket...

In the nose of Lacy Lady, 1955
Saw this image while trolling eBay. It was a combination "Best Years of our Lives" thought mixed with all those days as a kid laying on my bed imagining being in one of the model B-17s hanging from my ceiling being attached by model 109s and 190s. So I grabbed the photo. Got it today. On the back it...

Nothing to give any help from the seller. It was just another guy in an airplane image. Good to see you here Steve. Hope all is as well as can be down under.

A long shot, but worth a try
This image caught my eye on eBay and I grabbed it. Must be a 17 on the scrap heap as it looks like the glass is missing or spidered in places. no clue what's on top of it, and the angle of the fuselage looks like it might be lying flat. Anyway, the kill markings and mission symbols made me wonder of...

And yet one more 17 with a question
This on intrigues me. Image is dated April 24, 1945 so the airwar in the ETO is about done and 17s weren't going to the PTO. A training relatively early B17F still on the job. Turrets in place and gun mounts visible. Paint has been stripped. Not sure why this bird would still be in that configuratio...
