Re: B-17G 44-83316 and Twelve O'Clock High, etc.

Scott,

What was the source of the interior mockup for season one? I know I just posted a seperate thread on this, but I'm hoping this stimuates your memory.

Re: Attn shoppers (speaking of obscure): 43-39269

Wild guess, at first glance she looks to be canbird. What looks like damage to the wing is just scrap metal lying on top. Could be that sometime after the war she was in the PI and had a hard landing and with the rush to scrap the AC in the zoi, the AC at Clark were used as a parts source to keep th...

lets talk 12 O'clock high (the tv show)

Recently 12 O'clock high has been on my youtube rotation for some reason. Scott had wrote out some of the history of one of the B-17s from the show. The well known 'Picidelly lilly". The thing is, I noticed that while many/most of the TV shots were of this AC, there was another episode in season one...

Re: B-17C Update

Lol@tevern, Greenpeace..you are probably right. In the really early 70s my Boy Scout Troop was doing a required cross-country hike for some badge. You know the sort that you use your map and compass and just hike out into the woods. We found a relatively intact B-17 and informed the Rangers. Our Sco...

Re: Kermit Weeks B-17 Suzy Q

This video was from six weeks ago. It is a series of video's on Kermit flying it from Paris TX to Florida; and all the "fun" they had on the way. I get your point. I'm not sure of what to make of it. In another video a few years ago he says that although he would like to get the B-24 and B-17 restor...

Kermit Weeks B-17 Suzy Q

I was watching Kermits latest video on Suzy Q and he clearly says that he has rebuilt Suzy Q to flying status...then a minute later he talks about his second "B-17 built out of pile of parts" that might also be rebuilt, especially as it has good spars. He specifically says "...get it to fly TOO..." ...

Re: Which B-24 (postwar) is this?

Thanks! I should have known it was Oakland. I grew up in the Bay Area and it did look somewhat familiar. Oth I was stationed at Hamilton AFB/AAF and have seen pics that I could swear were taken there, only to find out they were taken someplace completely different. I found it interesting that in 194...

Which B-24 (postwar) is this?

Going through a number of pics I found recently. I have one of B-25 NL2424. In the background is a B-24 with a painted out insignia. My reference says that NL2424 was purchased from Walnut ridge. From photographic evidence Walnut ridge does not have mountains in the background, as is evident in this...

Re: I guess this is an "and such things" post

No, he was definitely talking about P-51s. He even showed me a pic of one of them that he had put together He called it a Frankenstang. It had the tail feathers and wings of a bird that had suffered a cockpit fire, and the cockpit and forward fuselage from another aircraft. The thing was he named na...

I guess this is an "and such things" post

Scott, I was out garage saling and met an older gentelman who lives not more than seven blocks from me. I believe he was born around 1940. First; he went to Parks College and confirms there was no B-17 when he attended in 1960. Second; I'm an AAE ( Aerospace Engineer) and this guy has a simliar degr...

Fantastic! Great Job! AS a tongue in cheek comment; legally speaking if the "secret" has not been lined out with an authenticator it is still technically secret. I DO have a secret clearance.... I want to make sure that everyone knows I"m joking; for the most part!!! 20 years ago I was closing down ...
