Re: The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress in Foreign Service

Is this book finally available? I have been waiting for months for it to be released. Where did you get it? Amazon still lists this as a pre-order with a release date of August 2. Their price is $29.93, direct from the publisher it is $45.00. This author also did an excellent book on the Swedish B-1...

Something for the B-17 movie section

I saw bits and pieces of an interesting film on TCM yesterday afternoon. An American Romance (1944) directed by King Vidor. A typical story of a poor European immigrant who comes to America and makes it big, in this case in the steel, automotive and aircraft industry. The best part of the film were ...

Just got my copy! Thanks! Now I have the complete set. As usual, very nicely done. This will be an excellent addition to my ever growing stack of B-17 books.

Re: Selling B-17 Models

I’ve been producing card model kits of B-17s (along with various other aircraft) for over fifteen years. So far no problems. I do try to keep the use of manufactures names to a minimum. I came across this article when I was working on a series of B-24 card kits. You might find it interesting and use...

Re: Yuma YB-40 Numbers

XB-40 124341 was interesting as it was modified in two different configurations. The original turtleback with the second turret tucked in and with the turret standing alone. The markings she carried were interesting too. In some photos you can see it has “U.S. ARMY” painted under the wings. Plus she...

Re: Color WW2 footage. New to me, anyway

Thanks for the great link! A lot of very interesting stuff there. Christmas came early this year! Did any of you check out the clip of French fashion model and actress Colette Duval setting a 1956 free-fall parachute jumping record from a B-17 in Brazil? I wish they had shown more of the B-17. I tak...

Re: 125 BRAND NEW CHEYENNE MODIFICATION PHOTOS

Wow! An interesting look at what went into the modifications done at Cheyenne. Those photos show several modifications and details I had never seen before. Thanks for posting the link. This will be very useful resource when designing my B-17 kits.

Thanks! I’m always on the lookout for YB-40 photos. This one is a bonus as I plan to do a kit of this aircraft.

YB-40 question?

Someone posted some very interesting photos of YB-40s on another forum. My question is in regard to the circled areas below the rear turret on these two TB-40s shown in the attached composite photo. Are these large rectangular areas windows? Could they have something to do with the Pinball training ...

I am sorry to hear of his passing. He was very helpful to me about ten years ago when I was designing my B-24D models. My condolences to his family.

Re: B-17 News Up for December

Thanks for the update. I really look forward to these. I too hope the "Swamp Ghost" Disney art doesn't end up being painted on the airplane. It would be good though for t-shirts and other such fund raising material.

Re: B-17 paper card models

My Pearl Harbor B-17C and the B-17E known as “Swamp Ghost” are now available here if anyone is interested. http://www.ecardmodels.com/ The gentleman who runs the website that sells my models dog was hit by a car so I did another Pacific based B-17 as a fund raiser to pay his vet bills. This is a 43r...
