Re: Photos of 41-2595 Desert Rat at Hendricks AAF
Desert Rat or Tangerine? It would be interesting to know when this 41-2595 was called Tangerine instead of the Desert Rat.

Re: Movie "Air Force" Identity of "Mary Ann"
In the last photo, any clues as to what happened to the nose of '52'? It looks to me like both pitot tubes were damaged and the right side has a dent in the side.

You've been buried in those B-17 drawings way too long! Being able to identify the 'tuning fork' as from an early B/C/D sure makes you an expert in my book.

Re: B-17 Shark Tail drawings
This really is impressive. But what I find more interesting is that the original was done by hand by some draftsman. Imagine doing all the drawings for a B-17 by hand! Rows and Rows of draftsmen at their tables laboring over one part at a time. Looking at the drawing, I see a line that seems to indi...

I'm curious to know whether or not the copilot knows his B-17 is being restored. It would also be interesting to hear what he remembers about the airplane. Would be good to document this before he passes on as it would add to the history of the airplane.

The jigs look first rate! But the question I have is how the frames are going to be kept in alignment during construction. What I'm trying to say is how are the frame going to be kept perpendicular to the fuselage centerline and also centered on the fuselage centerline? I've seen lots of projects in...

Yes, there are different standards, depending on the current needs for new cannon fodder. At one point not too long ago it was either the Army or Marines who were taking ex-cons just to fill slots. Be careful, military recruiters will tell you what ever you want to hear to get you to sign up. If the...

Bomb Bay Color Confusion
In a previous post, MustangDriver asked about the B-17 interior colors (http://aerovintage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=495). If I understand that posting, the bomb bay is painted chromate green. Is this bronze green? In this thread, DryMartini says they are going to prime the Desert Rat's bomb bay and...

B-17 Parts Interchangeability
With all the talk about which B-17 parts work with a C model, I want to throw in that there is a TO which covers B-17 parts interchangeability:
TO 01-20E-16 B-17 Series - Boeing
Now the only trick (or treat) is to find one.
