B-17 crash location information

Post by Jaypack44 »

Hi all, I'm currently trying to find ALL the B-17s still in existence in Google Earth (I've got most of the restored ones), so if anyone can tell me what the GPS coordinates are, or can describe pretty specifically the locations of any B-17 crash/wreck sites, as well as what is left, that would be a HUGE help!

Thanks in advance!

One of these days the secrets will be revealed. The B-29's at China Lake has popped up now but try and get on there!

Unfortunately if people knew where the wreck were, they strip it in no time.

Scott, I just had to bust out laughing at your reply
Whoever bought the two B-17s from Wheelless Junior, also picked up a set of outer wings, and a hangar full of parts, I think I have a picture of a set of wings leaning against a building.

No, these weren't the sings from the crash, they were extras that Wheelless had, and went with either N5017N or N3701G. They looked like they were in pretty good condition. A couple of horizontal stabilizers for the B-25 were with them.
There was also a semi load on Pratts there, and some nose glass for the B-17. I believe the Pratts went with the Venturas that were there then, and the nose glass, I am sure that was destroyed. I believe that only the tail section was recovered, and those parts with with one of the B-17's sold by wheelless.
