Highly doubtful

The RAF returned several Fortress I's in late 1942 that were used in the Desert campaign

This might be 40-2069

Returned USAAF: 25 September 1942 - 10th AF - (India)

I tend to agree. Somewhere I have a photo (possibly even a copy of this one) that I've always thought was one of the Fortress I that ended up in Africa.
