"Pacific Tramp" 41-2433 Question for Mr Birdsall

Post by jmkendall »

...lord I''ve posted this 6 times and it keeps kicking me out......

Short form

How many missions did this aircraft fly. It seems that it flew at least 175 missions by mid 1943 (1400 hours divided by 8 hours).

Is this aircraft a candidate for the highest mission count of a B-17?

I had a better formate but I dont' expect this to post either....is that why we have seen so few new post? People giving up after taking the time to write something and have it dumped time after time?

I don't believe there are accurate mission counts for any but a handful of Pacific-theatre B-17s . . . in the case of 41-2433 most of its 1943 missions with 5th Bomb Group are undocumented (in the available files), and many of its early missions were sea searches from Hawaii, again, undocumented as far as we know.

Truly sorry, but it's a situation I can't seem to do anything about. Still trying, but running out of time!

On the other matter, lately I seem to get this message when I attempt to post: "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again." Usually works the second attempt but I make a copy just in case.
