Has anyone heard of a very late post May 1945 B 17 g airframe in or around Hawthorne ca?
Missing wing tip , rudder and landing gear?
Selling percentage shares for $10,000?
Maybe 300 investors?
Maybe headed to Isreal?
Anyone?
If true could this be airframe 51?
Scott?

Re: B 17 g airframe in Hawthorne Ca??? New Find? Rumor
I believe this is a compilation airframe starting with the forward fuselage of 44-83387 (ex studio prop, ex Greeley bar) that is being assembled by Bruce Orriss and his California Air Heritage Foundation group. Where are you hearing about $10,000 share buy-ins? This is a long-delayed static restoration/compilation that should be nearing completion. This project is covered in the 5th edition of Final Cut.
I count 48 recovered and somewhat intact, more or less, B-17 airframes. You must see two more if this was to be #51. Curious....

Thanks Scott,
It is a rumor I heard recently. Just wanted to verify it.
I do not know if the 10k figure is correct.
Like I said,a rumor I heard the other day..
