How about a Bell FM-1 Airacuda? That must have looked like something from outer space when it was built in the late '30s.

Dik is right.They called him the hawkman.I think it might be on display at EAA.It was quite a long build but it was beautiful and i dont think it has ever flown.

I've also always liked the Curtiss F11C and the Boeing P-12/F4B-4.
