Chanute trainers

Post by Steve Birdsall »

Things are pretty quiet but an interesting photo of a couple of Chanute trainers turned up on Facebook posted by Steve Leyden, whose father took the photograph.

Can you read the serial number on the background B-17.

the style of the call numbers (tall and narrow) looks like these are from Hendricks

This is the best image I can get – there are clues there, but not enough for me to want to take a stab at the RCN. The original poster said his father was an instructor in flight engineer school.

42-5153 is not recorded at Chanute but 42-5158 was asssigned to Chanute August 1943.
