Re: Can anyone identify these B-17F trainers?
A high-resolution version of the NARA Kodachrome image of Redmond Annie turned up recently. Unfortunately, the serial number is still unclear, but I believe I can read enough of it to establish that it’s a Douglas Long Beach B-17F, serial beginning 42-30, but the last two digits . . . ?

I've noticed this in a couple other photos - the data block is often in just the right spot for the #2 prop to fling oil/water/ice at it.
A few F-model trainers showed up on eBay last week; sold for too much $$ but I saved the images.
42-5302(?) and 42-5265; AAIR accident lists 302 as a bailout/fire loss in Florida in 1944:
42-5265 again:
42-5728; note the fuselage art ahead of the star, and the T-shaped tail marking on the plane in the background. 728 shows up in a couple AAIR accident reports as being at Moses Lake and Great Falls in 1943:

To quote Bruno Stachel: "Con-FIRMED!" Taken at Dalhart, TX but still carrying the Redmond plane code "29".Steve Birdsall wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:46 pm
