Hi Scott,

I was looking at this thread on WIX, and something looked familiar:

Note how the "last four" of the serial are painted on the nose. Could the B-17 The Volunteer you're trying to identify in the News section be 44-83467 instead of 44-8467? That just might be a 3 cut off.

I was just going to post the same question. I did a double take when I saw the nose serial and the style of the 3 .

I'd love to have some history on the Volunteer.
