Turret
Correct,its DTs bird.There are some other parts in there as well.Can you imagine being the guys that carried,dragged,kicked that turret down the mountain.Oh my aching back.

ya, I was wondering how difficult it was to get that HMF out of the fuselage, What does one of those things weigh?
Can you inagine the shok and awe when they went into that -17 and found that treasure!

Hard to tell
Hard to tell. I'll look at a book with this pict in it,
and see if I can do better, but if I had to guess,
looks like either 40-3061 or 40-3067

Back in the 90s the top turret would power up.It may still.Its a real bear to get by one when we were skinny.Heck, I wouldnt even try now. BTW, They had a lot of man power to accomplish the job.

Going by Freeman/Osborne, (I don't have the IARCs yet)
The Serial could only be 40-3065, otherwise 40-3092 had that scheme (see the New Haven Photo at Yale, 1944) or others could be: 40-3081, 40-3082,
40-3084, 40-3085, 40-3089, or 40-3090:
40-3060, 40-3040, 40-3071, 40-3077, 40-3080, and 40-3083, were all destroyed on December7, 1941, at Hickam.
