Retired B-17s were pretty popular as personal transports in the 5th Air Force . . . General Kenney had 41-2633 Sally, General Whitehead had 41-24403 The Old Man and General Paul Wurtsmith had Well Goddam.
I'd always been unable to positively identify Well Goddam . . . until now. Thanks to fellow writer and researcher Dave Vincent I can confirm that it was 41-24381, originally Panama Hattie with the 43rd Bomb Group.
I'm still trying to confirm that 41-24358 Lulu Belle was assigned to General Paul Prentiss of 54th Troop Carrier Wing.
