Found another B-17B image + a bonus

Post by Chris Brame »

This turned up on the aafcollection.info site - it's from a graduation book from the Technical School at Sioux Falls, SD in 1943:

The class was actually a radio operators and mechanics course, but the B-17B was used for something called "covert training".
So which one was it? Likely one of these two per Baugher:
(38-)260 delivered to Langley Dec 1, 1939; transferred to Sioux Falls Jul 21, 1943. WO Aug 9, 1943.
(38-)261 delivered to Langley Nov 3, 1939; transferred to Sioux Falls Jul 21, 1943. WO Aug 9, 1943
They also had a couple Republic AT-12s:

As a bonus I also found this B-17F ground trainer in a Santa Ana AAF grad book:

Enjoy!

Rare finds. I am amazed at what turns up, though it is obviously the result of some diligent searching. Thanks for posting.
