Thanks for posting the pics.Could you imagine being on vacation with the family just wondering around europe and run up on that today? Needless to say the family vacation would get shot straight to hell. I would bet the divorce would be finale before you even got home.

Thanks Jeff. I appreciate you putting the pics on this forum. What a powerful forum it is when I think that I knew nothing about this B-17, had the town location wrongly spelled and in the wrong country. Now I know a lot about the history of this a/c. Thanks to all who contributed.

Hang the expense made me smile. I had the good fortune of not getting married until 27 years old. So with single friends we would do mainland Europe about twice per year. When I say "do", I mean driving from one airfield to the next for two solid weeks on each occasion and constantly taking a/c photographs and doing airshows. To hell with the scenery and oldie worldie Europe! Each trip included using the car carrying air service across the English Channel, operated with Bristol Freighters and Carvairs. When not in Europe we would nail air shows and many airfields in the UK each weekend.

Then I had a job that over a 20 year period involved travelling throughout North America every week and places around the world. So the a/c photographing opportunities just continued. Thats why I smile.

This is one reason why I keep a disposable camera in the car... you just never know what you will see.
