486th BG RAF Sudbury Question

Post by NicBrown »

38th FS Wormingford Warriors 2.jpg
Hi (new meber, first post)
The attached image is one I recently finished with the 486th as the flight being defended by P-51s of the 55th FG.
It was created as part of a set of 3 representing the three squadrons of the 55th. One of the airfields they flew from during the was is now owned by my father-in-law, much of it has returned to farmland. The legacy the USAAF left in the local area to Wormingford remains strong and I wanted to create the images as a memorial to the young men that fought and made the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations could live in a free world.

My next image I intend to start working on will be a dedicated 486th image.

I know this may be being very cheeky but if anyone has any images of the old airfield (RAF Sudbury) and they wouldn't mind sharing, that would be great.
I pride myself on getting the detail of the aircraft as accurate as possible with the aid of wartime images.

I have access to many images of the a/c thanks to the 486th website, but if anyone has anymore they wouldn't mind sharing that would also be a great help.

thanks in advance.
Nic.

Many thanks to the infamous Nic Brown! Exceptional work, thanks for sharing it. An ambitious piece for sure.

I greatly appreciate the work that you do to keep the feats of the Greatest Generation at the forefront of subsequent generations. I fear that the rear view mirror is becoming foggy, so these images are very much needed.
