B-17E 41-2458 was one of the most interesting early aircraft and was around for a very long time. After serving with both the 19th (possibly named Texas Tornado in the early days) and 43rd Bomb Groups, she was stripped down and modified as an armed transport in early 1944.

This little photo turned up on eBay a while back and I'm wondering if anyone on our team was the successful bidder. I'd dearly love to have a good scan of this one!

Actually I do believe I know who has it. I'll contact him about a good scan and see if he's willing.

He's one of the reasons I avoid the combat 17s. I have no idea where he comes up with the money spent on some of those shots. Way out of my league.

Thanks Dan, much appreciated. I'm happy to offer something from my collection in exchange.

Meanwhile, here's what she looked like with the 43rd Bomb Group.
