FOUND B 17 F-40VE Serial 42-5985, 549 BS lost 20 June 1944.

Hey from Northern-Germany,

we, member of a Missing Aircrew Research Group, became the advice about the crashside of the B 17 F-40VE Serial 42-5985, 549 BS lost 20 June 1944.
The 2. Lt. Joseph A. Montgomery crew were all POW, only the Co-Pilot 2. Lt. Samuel K. Levy killed as his Parachut not open.
The Crew:

2nd Lt. Samuel K. Levy KIA, Co-pilot (Grave in the USA) (Cedarhurst, New York)
2nd Lt. Milton Shalinsky O-711492 POW, Navigator (Kansas City, Montana)

The plane crashed in marshy ground nearby of a lake.
We found many parts of the ball turret, bomb bay, oxygen bottles, a piece of the Engine and some fine shoes.
We searching for additional Information about the crew and the plane.
