Rat Update

Post by DryMartini »

Well, it's been cold and snowy here in northern Illinois,
and that has made it tough to work on the airframe.
So, what do ya do? You move to the warm room, with
parts that fit through the door!

Our goal for 2008 is to get the rear fuselage from BLK 6 to BLK 11
in one piece (it is currently in 4). I don't know if we'll make it
due to the amount of corroded parts back there, but we should
be able to get it down to maybe 2 pieces at least.

There has been some fitting of new bulb angle and ribs
in the nose, and riveting done on the nose skins.

Work continues on the nose window frames down south.

We're about to pull the trigger on the wing carry through spars,
a project that was on, off, on, off, and on again over the last
18 months. But, some operators are realizing that having new carry
through spars on the shelf offer a good measure of insurance.

We have also been working on our throttle quad, making some
new aluminum pulleys and panels.

Sorry for the long time between updates - a lot has been going on
at work, and limiting my B-17 time, which is truly a crying shame.

I hope to have a new look to my B-17 web site soon,
and should be able to post a ton of B-17 information there.
