July Update - B-17E 41-2595

Post by DryMartini »

Well, Mike and the guys are keeping up the pace with the B-17,
as they continue to fit and rivet new nose skins, and also refurbish
the horizontal stabilizers. The attachment fittings were cleaned and
dye inspected, the spar cap material was delivered and machined,
new parts cut and primed, and old parts cleaned and primed. The
spar rebuild will commence over the next few weeks.

In the mean time, HTE has forwarded some pictures of the
stinger gun enclosure, as he works to get all damaged and
missing skins replaced. Take a look at the work:

The new lower skins fitted to the frame

The (mostly) new upper skins clecoed in for fitting.

The left side of the enclosure originally looked like this:

Bill,

Great stuff and some fine work by Tom.

Thanks for posting. I'll try and work it into the Desert Rat pages soon.
