I was wondering if anyone has any photos of this B-17E or can steer me in the right direction to where I can find some. I have found six photos myself and was wondering what else was out there. Actually, photos of any of the 97th Bomb Group B-17Es would be useful.

Thanks,
John

John, I have 2 photos of the B-17E (41-9043) PEGGY D of the 342nd Bomb Squadron, which I have uploaded to this reply. My father (Colonel Rudolph Emil Flack, AAF) was the Squadron Commander of the 414th Bomb Squadron. The 97th Bomb Group swapped out their B-17E aircraft for the newly arrived B-17F aircraft on 24-Aug-42 that were delivered by the 92nd Bomb Group (Grafton►Bovington►Grafton, 2-hours of flying time logged for the swap-out). The B-17F (41-24343) PEGGY D II was transferred to the 414th Bomb Squadron in North Africa when the 97th Bomb Group was transferred from the VIII Bomber Command to the Twelfth Army Air Force in November 1942.

If you have any photos available of the B-17 aircraft of the 97th Bomb Group from 1942 through August 1943, I would very much appreciate electronic copies, if possible. If so, please email them to me at RFlackAttack@hotmail.com. My Hotmail account can accept up to 50MB worth of data. I am in the process of writing a book about my father's life story that has a primary focus on his military flying career. I have attached a 4-Nov-43 photo of then Lt. Colonel Flack.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide. With regards, Fredrick Richard "Rick" Flack.
