In doing research for the B-17 card models I am designing I noticed this interesting “molding” inboard of the top cockpit windows of the B-17E “Desert Rat/Tangerine”. I’ve never seen this on any B-17F or G. Or for that matter, on any other B-17E. Was this something unique to some B-17Es?

Interesting.I had never noticed that before as I only have that late model trash in my shop.If I had my druthers it would be sharkfins and nothing else.Good eye John.

My thought was perhaps this was a feature on early B-17Es, but was eliminated to simplify and speed up production. Has anyone else seen this on any other B-17s?

My thoughts as well. The G model has a stamping on the inside that takes the place of ribs between the eyebrow windows on the inside.
