This is a registration number you do not have in B-17 Survivors

Do you have any information (other then the card) on this B-17

I have never seen reference to this as a civil assignment and from the history of the airplane, it doesn't make sense that it would have operated as a civil airplane. i am curious as to the source of your information.

Certainly bears further research. It is hard to imagine anyone being fooled by a "civil" B-17 in 1944 used for any purpose. The FAA maintains a card file showing the sequential assignment of the "N" numbers so it would be interesting to pursue this a bit more.
