42-30146 had an interesting career ahead - ended up flying for the other side:

Minor point but, as has been discussed before, it was a Sperry lower turret, first the periscope sited "remote" and, later, the ball turret No Bendix turrets in the B-17 until the chin turret.

It would be neat to know what the serial number of the B-17E being built was. Those early "E" forts had such a history...
