Hi Dan - that's 41-2637, known as Ready Betty . . . that name is in smaller script between the two nose windows. Part of the name disappeared (the "y") when the gun window was enlarged.

The first mention I have of it is in the 28th Bomb Squadron, 19th Bomb Group at the end of June 1942, then went to the 43rd when the 19th went home.

As far as I know there were only two B-17s in the 43rd with that side-by-side nose gun setup . . . The Last Straw and this one, which is a much "cleaner" modification.
