Was it common to taxi using only engines 1 and 4 running?

Fuselagecodes.com lists tail code Y as used by Dyersburg, TN. (Williams Field was also Y but it's listed as a fuselage code - correct?)

Now to try and pick a serial from that (were there any more images that came up in your search?):


Serial looks like a short five-digit number; taking a leap of faith that the three big digits (partly cut off ) on the fin are the last three from the serial, from Osborne I get possible matches in 42-3369, 42-5369, and 42-5868.

If Williams also used Y as a tail code, it could be 42-5269.

Sorry Chris, it was the one and only pic of an aircraft on that set. The rest were of the pilots and crew playing with their lady friends.

I did find something in the Tampa set that might be of interest. It was a group pic in Ops, with a board in the background with some serial numbers. If you are interested I can post it.

Thanks! From the serials it looks like early 1942 at MacDill; note B-18A 37-676 in there too.

Maybe - is that 41-2595 with the X next to it? It's below the HQ and 41-11111(? BT-13 lost in a fatal crash October 17, 1942 12 miles west of Shafter, CA).
