"Great" is not the word I would use about that book.
For a much more complete and truthful account of Zeamer, his B-17
Lucy, his crew and that mission I suggest you check out

Thanks Steve,
I've been counting on you for great stories since I got "Log of the Liberators" on January 29th of 1976; according to the inscription I wrote on the inside! I don't know how many times I have read that book. It certinally is well...loved..lol.
Do you have any idea of how many total missions "Lucy/666" flew? I wonder if any of the earlier pilots who flew her into combat also recieved commendations. And if so if thier commendations would shed light on her history?
Thanks
Joe

Thanks Joe, that’s very kind and I really appreciate it.
Over the years I’ve tried to put together a list of 41-2666’s missions. It’s not an easy task, but I think possible for much of the aircraft's long career.
In the early days the plane was flown by a lot of different crews (by the time 41-2666 arrived Port Moresby was somewhat more secure and B-17s and their crews could be left there for longer periods , , , sometimes two crews would fly up from Townsville in one B-17 and take turns to fly missions).
For example, the plane flew seven missions in June 1942 – one each with Eaton, Harlow and May and two each with Rawls and Simmons.
However, the real problem is the lack of 65th Bomb Squadron records.

Steve,
I meant grat as in the story is now available in book form. A disappointment for sure. The website is more complete.
It is like the book a Higher Call. A nice story but a book ?
Really?
Log of Liberators is a fantastic book.
