A question about CP-891

Post by jmkendall »

So I'm looking around and I see a photo of CP-891. The first thing I notice is that it has a stinger tail.

Then I come here and look it up and see that it is still around at March; and is the "Starduster".

But....it has the later tail unit; which I see from an in service picture, is what it had in USAF service.

So; was this number used by more than one B-17, or was there some mixing and matching going on?

Thanks

Joe

read scott's book but the simple answer is yes - a lot of mixing of parts.

It is know that the plane know as Starduster crashed at least two times while in South American service and both times rebuilt using parts from several B-17's
