Another RFC B-24

Post by jmkendall »

Apparently an aircraft at a Southern California Airport in the 1950s.

Found it here: http://mplindianaroom.blogspot.com/2013 ... sight.html

We'll have to see what Mr. Veronico says about this one. Very interesting photo.

Interesting stuff there. What they are calling a Stearman isn't - it's an ex-Navy Fleet 2/N2Y; last report from Aerial Visuals for N610M was a sale in 1972.
Note the outfit with the B-24, Skyways, was the inspiration for the movie Lady Takes a Flyer, which starred B-17G 43-34956.

I contacted William R. Buckley, author of the post showing the B-24, and he did not have any other images, so no picture of the serial number.

I am wondering if this aircraft is the sole B-24 that Paul Mantz kept from the Stillwater purchase. He reportedly kept one Liberator. Does anyone have details on this B-24?

Thanks,
Nick
