Pyote January 1944

This interesting photo appeared in
The Rattler, the Pyote base newspaper in January 1944.
Three of the five B-17Fs are easily identifiable - 42-5148, 42-30324 and 42-30760.

I also see 42-29695 in the back.
The other background ship could be 42-5083 (which was a Gulfport ship)

nope -- can not be 42-5083
Clearly this is a B-17G and 083 was a F-35-BO.

did some more digging -- would you believe this is a YB-40 ? 42-5923
This ship has the Vega cheek windows and I can read the first two digits and the last two digits

It also has the larger fuselage cocarde that was peculiar to Vega B-17Fs.
