On eBay now. Serial isn't visible but lines up with AAIR's accident report for Biggs Field-based 42-6089 on August 19, 1945:

Its a sliding scale....

Until the end of 1944 the scale was simple:

Damage=1 no damage to aircraft (ie somebody walked into a propeller, caught in the turret machinery, foot run over by tire etc).
Damage=2 Slight damage to aircraft (dented wings, bullet hole, torn fabric); slight cuts and scrapes to crew
Damage=3 Minor damage to aircraft (replace panel, minor sheet metal); broken bones, amputations, burns.
Damage=4 Serious to major damage - possible class 26 action, aircraft is almost intact but seriously bent; minor to heavy injuries, death, dismemberment.
Damage=5 Aircraft is wrecked, 100% salvage; injuries same as Daamge 4

After December 1944 the scale was changed to 4 class's (Dings (1), Dents (2), Broke (3) and Destroyed(4))) with Old Damage=1 being removed and renamed minor damage (and a seperate numbering schedule) with the old Damage 2 being reevaluated to moving minor damage to the new categories in some cases.

L.A. Times, August 20, 1945; ID confirmed. Is that a retrofitted B-17G main wheel?
